A beautiful hand carved jewellery box, made from solid walnut wood grown on the hillsides of Kashmir.
This unique box is classed as semi carved because much of the beauty derives from the polished plain areas around the carved detail allowing the quality of the work to be emphasised. It measures 12" x 8" x 4" on the outside and 11"x7" on the inside. It is 2.5" deep with an internal removable trinket tray 1" deep
The box is lined with bottle green velvet and is opened by a sliding secret lock.
The intricate carving on the top and corners covers about half the area. This rose is the national flower for Kashmir; it is carved delicately leaving a section of smooth grain.
